The last time I reviewed a software that enables you to set the transparency of windows, we received a program with serious flaws, so I decided to leave the link to the previous article, but I suggest that you check out the review that I have just submitted.
So, you might as well make your Windows start completely transparent.
Preview the entire Windows desktop at all times.
Do you have a Windows machine running as an icon on your taskbar? That’s understandable. But we all know that we often don’t need this.
Instead, you can simply use the Windows transparency slider to make it completely opaque.
If you use Windows XP, the desktop image quality is set to one of the worst.
Crystal XP solves this problem by adding a separate window to preview the overall desktop image.
And it’s really useful!
The TopWindow is very small, so it’s really easy to drag a small window to the edge of the screen.
When you do that, you get to see the desktop image presented in a full window.
If you don’t, then you are limited to the small thumbnail in the corner of the display.
But the problem with this thumbnail is that it only shows the desktop image if the window is completely on the active desktop.
And here’s the kicker – you can’t drag the thumbnail away from the corner of the screen.
This is a serious problem that nobody needs.
So we need a solution.
Crystal XP provides a preview window at the top of your desktop.
This is where all the pixels come from.
If you happen to put it on the active desktop, you get to see the full desktop image.
So drag the window all over the screen and it’s always in the same place.
You can make the thumbnail larger or shrink it down when you are done.
We were a little bit afraid that moving the thumbnail out of its original corner might cut off part of the desktop.
But it turns out that it works just fine.
And this is a good sign.
But I still like to be in control.
So I can move the image by dragging it with the mouse.
This works fine, even in Windows XP.
The only drawback is that it doesn’t work when the image is already occupying a corner of the screen.
But at least, you can move the window all over the display.
