The program installs as a.exe and has no uninstaller. During installation, it gives you a “Please wait” box which adds about 30 seconds of elapsed time to the installation. It is frustrating if you are installing on a high speed network (A fast Internet).
After installation, the icon is found in the System and will not be found with your programs section unless you add it there. The program also adds a shortcut to the “Start” menu for the icon.
Folder Colorizer runs in the background and will never be looked at. The program gives a friendly menu where you can change the opacity of the program (no menu bar) and how visible the program is when you click on the icon. This is perfect for an administrator using a laptop or notebook.
There are 8 basic pre-defined colors for you to choose and you can customize these colors using the drop-down boxes. These colors are gray, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and black. The colors can be edited by typing or pasting. There is no range for editing these colors and the color black only allows you to have a totally transparent color.
You can only save the color for any single folder and this is all you can do. You can not save it for any type of folder (drive, recycle bin, root, etc.)
Finally, you can not save colors using a unique name.
This application is free and it only takes up about 7mb of the hard drive space. It does not install any files or perform any modifications of other programs. It also does not interfere with your normal operation of the computer.
