Regarding Fujifilm X-Trans RAW files, Photoshop does not support X-Trans RAW files and neither does Lightroom 3. Underscoring the fact that it was always a one-way street, Fujifilm has never released any software that would make it possible to update their proprietary RAW code to Adobe Standards. After all, are they not the ones who invented the code?

That said, perhaps Photoshop Elements supports it. I just can’t imagine why it isn’t possible to create a simple plug-in that translates X-Trans RAW data into a linear format, so that Adobe products (i.e., Photoshop, Lightroom, Photoshop Elements, etc.) can read and edit the data.

I have not tried the JPEG previews in the developer mode, but found the Smart Previews application so much faster. Still, I will keep working on the RAW files, but I will keep the developer mode open in case there is something that they are not doing. So far I have not found anything.
